Description: ISSA LA Lunch Meeting
Meeting Date: February 20, 2013 - 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Topic: Bring your CFO to Work Day: 5 Tips for Optimizing the InfoSec/ Finance Relationship
Prerequisite:
Either bring Your Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to this session (recommended), or before the meeting ask your CFO the one most pressing security or risk management question that comes to their mind. If at first glance this pre-requisite exercise makes you feel uncomfortable, or your CFO has multiple questions when approached, then this is your first tip for you both to come to this interactive session.
Disclaimer:
I am also married to my CFO. This use case will not be covered in this session. Actually, tip 2 is for you to avoid this situation if at all possible at your organization.
Abstract:
Let’s be honest: most Chief Financial Officers struggle to understand information security and how it relates to their risk management objectives. Further, this issue has been recently magnified by two characteristics of the InfoSec/Finance relationship. The first is that often CFO’s are key decision makers for most Information security activities, and second that the responsibilities and interest of most CFO’s in risk management is growing by the day, mostly due to increased Board interest in the topic.
Let’s be even more honest: the primary reason for these breakdowns in optimizing the security and finance relationship can be attributed to many of the techniques and approaches that have been proliferated by OUR information security discipline. This interactive session will break down some of these issues and present 5 tips for optimizing the information security/finance relationship. From building a communication system that is practical to use of a unified definition of risk; get ready to work together, have some fun and move our organizations forward.
Speaker: Mike Gentile
Mike is on a mission to change the status quo in Information Security as we know it. His goal is to translate the discipline from one that is often misunderstood, inefficiently applied, and painful to one that is a seamless, collaborative, and repeatable in organizations across the globe. Delphiis is the encapsulation of this mission.
